Founded in 1990 the antiquarian bookshop Freddi has always tried over time to interpret commanding trends and tastes in collecting books and at the same time to document, individuate and foster proposals marking changes and variations in the concept and value of collectibles.
Today in our renewed site, in addition to traditionally present topics such as rare and curious books, finely illustrated books, books of artists, first editions of books with particular emphasis on Italian and French literature, books with a documentary import, photography books and photographs, travel books and travelogues. Checking on our proposals you can take a virtual trip among the shelves of the library and, in particular, see the news in the section "New Proposals", which is periodically updated.
An entirely new section of great charm, visual appeal and interest has been opened and this is dedicated to animated book (pop-ups), mobile cards and paper curiosities, which at the moment enjoys an extraordinary flowering and success worldwide.
Having a keen eye in this field, counting on a considerable collection of various items and being able to renew it periodically, Freddi antiquarian bookshop aims at constituting a real, important center dedicated to animated ancient and modern books, both for children and for adults, which will operate in conjunction with the most important international collectors and institutions dealing with animated books. The library will represent, therefore, a place, a forum of study and research into animated books, their history, their expressive means, languages and techniques, as well as on the techniques of their restoration.
On December 2014 the library has organized the Exhibition "An animated Christmas. Exhibition of animated books and mobile cards from the 19th century to the present day", which was a gratifying success. Other exhibitions of collectible items in the same field will take place in 2015.
